Collection: How To Clean Suede Shoes
Suede isn't scary to clean, here's exactly how we clean it, step by step.
How to clean suede shoes
Dry brush the dirt off, clean the shoe without over saturating the suede, let it dry completely, erase any spots left behind, then brush again to reset the texture. That's it. Suede isn't scary, it just needs the right tools in the right order.
Here's exactly how we did it on a pair of Military Black Jordan 4s that came in caked with dirt.
The 5 steps

Brush it dry
Knock all of the loose dirt off first, before anything gets wet. The more you get off the better.

Clean the sneaker
Use the solution and brushes to clean the shoe. Don't over saturate the suede.

Let it dry
Pat the sneaker dry with the towel and let it air dry completely before the next step.

Erase the marks
Use the suede eraser to take out any spots on the suede the cleaning left behind.

Brush it again
One last pass with the brush resets the texture so it looks and feels like suede again. Take your time here.

Suede cleaning questions
Can you get suede wet?
Yes, a little. Suede can handle a cleaning solution and a brush. What it can't handle is being over saturated, so use just enough to work the lather and let it dry completely.
Should I brush suede before cleaning it?
Always. Dry brushing first gets the loose dirt off so you're not pushing it deeper into the suede once it's wet.
When do I use the suede eraser?
After the shoe is fully dry. The eraser takes out any spots or marks the cleaning left behind. Then brush again to reset the texture.
Why does my suede look flat after cleaning?
The fibers get pressed down while they're wet. Once the pair is dry, a final pass with the suede brush lifts them back up.
Do I need a separate kit for suede?
The cleaning solution and brushes handle the clean. The suede eraser and suede brush handle the finish. The All Material Shoe Cleaning System has both, plus Mink Oil.
What if it doesn't work on my pair?
Every kit is backed by our Clean Guarantee. If it's not right, we make it right.
